Writer ranks FSU Football among most unlikable teams in Top 25

FSU football found themselves starting in the top 20 of the first coaches poll, but one writer put them even lower in her opinion based poll.
After the FSU football team found themselves outside of the rankings starting with the day after their September 30th win over Wake Forest last season, the Seminoles are enjoying having a number by their name after being ranked No. 19 in the inaugural coaches poll of the 2018 season.
The Noles are in a position where they could be a team that shocks the college football world and pulls off some major upsets to be in the race for the ACC and College Football Playoff – while they could also be a FSU football team fighting just to continue their winning season and bowl game streaks this season.
Everyone has their opinion about where the Seminoles should be – but one writer from USA Today thinks the Noles should be ranked lower than 19th for a reason having nothing to do with football.
During a recent column ranking the top 25 teams based on what Michelle Martinelli deemed was likability, she had FSU football as the third least likable team among the first group of 25 teams.
"While it’s not quite as terrible as Chief Wahoo, this school, at a minimum, needs a new logo, if not a new mascot altogether because Native Americans shouldn’t be mascots. There’s also the possibility this team could outdo itself and lose all its games in the first half of the season instead of just most of them, like in 2017."
Ahhh, I’m glad to see that Martinelli did her research to see that the Seminole Tribe of Florida signed off and supports the use of the name as our mascot – but I guess that doesn’t fit her narrative for this piece, so we’ll just move on.
You should have seen that this wasn’t a respectable piece when Martinelli ranked Miami as the fourth most likable team because of the turnover chain and UCF at No. 2 because of their “amusing” national title claim – but hey, at least we are ahead of Ohio State and Michigan State according to Martinelli based on their off field chaoses.
FSU football is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea for a variety of reasons, and that’s fine – but at least come after us with stuff having to do with the actual game of football, okay?
