FSU Football holding several fall practices away from campus next week
By Jason Parker
FSU football will take their show on the road for five days starting next Sunday, spending time at IMG Academy near Bradenton before returning to campus.
The world returned to normal on Monday as the FSU football team returns to the practice fields for the first time this fall in anticipation of the season opener in just four weeks against Virginia Tech. For head coach Willie Taggart, all the pressure is now squarely going to be on him to perform and lead the team back to being a national power.
So, how are Taggart and the Seminoles going to deal with all the pressure in Tallahassee? Why, by leaving town for a few days!
The Tallahassee Democrat confirmed the initial report of another FSU football blog site that the Noles will head to IMG Academy near Bradenton starting next Sunday and stay for five days before heading back home to finish off the rest of the preseason practices.
Now, TECHNICALLY the school can’t talk about where they are going and what they are doing but can only say that from the 12th to the 16th they will be somewhere outside the shadows of Doak Campbell Stadium.
"“I think going off in a different place allows you to do that in a place where you’re not necessarily comfortable, allows you to work in an environment that is not entirely comfortable,” Taggart said of the days FSU will spend at IMG."
FSU football won’t be the first team to do such a thing down at the renowned school for prep athletes – as the Michigan Wolverines spent part of their spring practice several years ago doing the same exact thing.
Now, Taggart and the Seminoles can spin this anyway they want about wanting to have a fresh look and a different environment, but this is about getting the Noles some free publicity at one of the top prep player factories in the county – and I support the move 100 percent.
FSU football already has two commitments for 2019 from IMG Academy players and would love to add to that number – including getting five star players like Trey Sanders and Evan Neal. This might not do anything to sway them, but it can’t hurt.
