FSU Football is now finding themselves firmly in the running for one of the top lineman in the country, who had some choice words for the former staff.

This weekend, some of the top high school recruits from the state of Florida and around the country, took part in the first annual Saturday Night Live event organized by new FSU football head coach Willie Taggart and his staff – all in an effort to get the players to see the wonder that is the Seminoles program.

For the Noles, the event brought some players already committed to FSU football along with others committed to other schools that still want to give the Seminoles a good look – in the case of one five star recruit, it’s a trip that almost didn’t take place but might have been the best thing to happen for #Tribe19.

Kardell Thomas, the top rated offensive guard in the country from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been committed to the hometown LSU Tigers for over two years now – still, he made the trip to SNL after being hounded by assistant coach Raymond Woodie for months to make another visit to Tallahassee.

The 28th overall player in the country not only had plenty of good things to say about FSU football, but didn’t hold back on throwing shade at the former coaching staff of the Noles when it came to why he didn’t want to give the Seminoles another chance (h/t Tallahassee Democrat).

"“…I’m not going to lie. The first time I came here it was so boring. With respect to the last staff it was so boring I was never coming back. Coach Woodie kept telling me it was different… I finally came and see what he meant. I love it.”"

Somewhere in eastern Texas, a college is wondering if it can get its $75 million back – but that’s a story for another day.

Thomas spent nearly five days on the FSU football campus, working with coaches that included what would be his segment coach, Greg Frey.

"“Coach Frey, the way he coached today was something that I’ve never seen before,” Thomas said. “He actually took the time to correct this and correct that. Step this way and step that way… He’s a standup guy.”"

Thomas later said that FSU football had done so well, it will be one of the five spots that he will be taking an official visit to this fall – joining LSU, Miami, USC and Penn State among that list while saying that the Seminoles are now “50-50” with the Tigers at this point.

IF the Noles can flip this top recruit not just from the SEC but also from the program in his hometown, it would instantly become one of the biggest moves of the 2019 recruiting cycle and further stamp Taggart and staff’s place as one of the best in the game in such a short period of time.
