FSU Rivals: Has Dan Mullen lost control of Florida Gators?
By Kelvin Hunt
Florida head coach Dan Mullen has a lot of work to do if he wants to bring the Gators back to relevance.
Dan Mullen hasn’t coached a single game at the University of Florida and the fan base is already growing restless.
The Gators have the No. 35 ranked recruiting class in the nation with just 36 percent of their 11 commits being rated as blue chip players.
That’s absurd for a place like Florida with the level of resources they have. However, what’s even more disturbing is the recent rash of players having run-ins with the law although that’s nothing new with that crew no matter who the coach is.
It all began Tuesday with former four-star wide receiver Justin Watkins was arrested for the second time in two months. Watkins, a former FSU commit, is facing four charges including two felonies.wee

A day later it was reported that six more Florida Gators were allegedly involved in an incident that involved a confrontation with a local Gainesville resident in May.
Thoughts
It’s really bad in Gainesville right now. Recruits are actually trolling the Gators and the perception of Dan Mullen on the recruiting trail isn’t a positive one.
We all know recruiting is the lifeblood of a program and Florida can’t continue to let the Noles widen the talent gap between the two schools although I’d be perfectly happy with that.
I’d normally say winning games would cure a lot of the problems, but there’s no guarantee the Gators can do that even with their soft schedule.
They’re likely to have at least three losses including another one to FSU football which would be six straight losses to the Noles.
The scary part for the Gators? A new coach typically means momentum on the recruiting trails with a new message and a chance for the coach to shape the culture of the program to his liking.
It looks like Dan Mullen is doing the total opposite of gaining momentum and shaping their culture for into winning environment.
