Quarterbacks Improved Over 2017

The Noles go into the 2018 season in a much better position with QB experience and depth. Last season Deondre Francois was the starter no question and didn’t have a single person on the roster that could legitimately push him for the job.

He has two true freshman, one of which had only been at FSU for a couple of months before the season started. Ironically, it was that player in James Blackman who replaced Francois when he got injured.

That’s not the case in 2018. Blackman has a full year of starting experience under his belt and got a ton of valuable reps in spring camp. The same for redshirt freshman Bailey Hockman who doesn’t have experience, but has a year of college to lean on.

At the very least the Noles will not have to worry about trotting a true freshman under center this season. To be honest, that was probably worth two more wins alone in 2017.

The quarterback position will be a strength in 2018.
