FSU football wants to get thousands of fans to show up and greet some of the top recruits for the next two classes, a move that can only be successful.

This past April, the FSU football nation came out in droves to the first spring game of the Willie Taggart era – setting a record when over 60,000 people packed inside Doak Campbell Stadium from all parts of the stadium and the country to cheer on the Seminoles in a game that didn’t even count.

Now, Taggart wants those in garnet and gold to show up inside Doak again this summer for an event that doesn’t have any meaning on the scoreboard – but could mean plenty for the near future of the program.

On July 28th, the FSU football team will be hosting the first Saturday Night Live event bringing in some of the top recruits from both the 2019 and 2020 classes. The free event, running from 4 to 6 p.m. on a Saturday, is designed to give those recruits another chance to look at the Noles’ program before their high school seasons starts.

The Tallahassee Democrat had more information on what to expect.

"FSU hopes to have 10,000 fans in attendance for the event after having more than 7,000 fans at a similar event at Oregon last year under new FSU head coach Willie Taggart. This event is different from the events that FSU hosted in the past. It’s a one-night camp event designed to get the best-of-the-best to Tallahassee to work with the FSU coaches and against other top prospects."

Of course, the biggest fish that the Seminoles hope to lure in from the event is the top player in the 2019 class. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, who raved about the FSU football program when he attended the spring game, is scheduled to attend before he will make an official visit during the fall – possibly even for the season opener against Virginia Tech.

Doing something like this is a genius move by the FSU football team and Taggart. It allows fans to get another taste of football before the Hokies come to town while, more importantly, showing these recruits the passion the Seminoles and their fan base have.

If you are in the Tallahassee area at the end of the month or have the ability to get there, do your best to be inside Doak Campell that day – it may be the thing that throws some recruits over the top and gets them part of #Tribe19.
