Sophomore running back Cam Akers and junior defensive end Brian Burns representing the Noles at ACC Kickoff.
The ACC Kickoff will take place July 18-19, at The Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. All the schools in the ACC conference select two players from their respective teams to represent the school.
FSU has selected Cam Akers and Brian Burns to represent the Noles. I’m not sure all that goes into selecting the two representatives, but these are two fine choices.
Akers broke the FSU freshman rushing record last season with over 1,000 rushing yards. Brian Burns has legitimate first round NFL talent and could reach double-digit sacks in 2018.
Teams usually try to send a player from the offense and a player from the defense, but there have been times when that differs.

In fact, Roberto Aguayo was sent to represent FSU in 2015 along with Jalen Ramsey.
There were other great choices like junior cornerback Levonta Taylor, senior defensive tackle DeMarcus Christmas or senior running back Jacques Patrick.
Thoughts
I wouldn’t put too much stock into who the staff is sending to Charlotte. However, I do know whoever they chose earned that spot because the staff is all about accountability.
Here’s one thing to consider.
Often times the quarterback is thought to be the leader of the offense.
It’s interesting a quarterback wasn’t sent to Charlotte. That likely would have signaled who Willie Taggart was considering the leader in the clubhouse to win the starting job.
Or simply would have caused an unnecessary distraction among those keeping tabs on who they think the starter will be between Deondre Francois, James Blackman and Bailey Hockman.

Both Akers and Burns are excellent choices to represent the Noles as both will be key contributors to the success of the team in 2018.
