FSU recruiting stays hot on the trails with its third commitment of the week with three-star composite defensive end Derrick McLendon.

FSU head coach Willie Taggart and FSU recruiting are not playing any games on the recruiting trails after remaining relatively quiet the past two months on the commitment front.

It’s newest edition in Derrick McLendon was expected, but a player the Noles have been high on for quite a while.

McLendon is a composite three-star defensive end standing at 6’3″ 228 pounds while hailing from Tucker, Georgia.

It’s the second commitment from Georgia this week after four-star defensive end Curtis Fann announced his pledge to the Noles Saturday.

FSU recruiting now stands at 13 commitments with 10 of them coming on the defensive side of the ball. They have a 77 percent blue chip ratio and ranked No. 9 nationally and have the highest average rating per player in the ACC by far.

Thoughts

FSU recruiting when hot is like the Golden State Warriors in the third quarter it seems. The commitments come in three’s, just the way the Warriors score from downtown.

It’s great to have McLendon in the fold, especially since the Noles beat out Florida for his commitment and keeps their string of whiffs intact for the foreseeable future.

Also, it seems Willie Taggart and company seem to be making headway back into the state of Georgia where FSU used to have a foothold.

Both of the latest Georgia commitments are just a four hr drive or so from Tallahassee. The Noles have about 10 more spots left in the class and have several blue chip players that could be calling FSU home sooner than later.
