FSU football has produced some of the top talent in the present day NFL – and the latest rankings for the popular video game show that.

It’s one of the biggest moments of the year for video game nuts and football fans – the day when the Madden NFL game comes out for you to purchase (or bootleg if you’re into that sort of thing). Whether your college allegiance if for FSU football or another college, it’s a game both fans and the players themselves take seriously.

Annually, those who play the game of pro football for real wonder how the game’s makers are going to rate them – giving them an overall ranking with 99 being the best. It’s something that creates a social media firestorm if a player feels their ranking is disrespectful or if they feel the number is accurate to their talent.

With dozens of former FSU football players in the league, everyone is going to be looking to see where they stand. Now, a leaked list of preliminary rankings is shedding light on the issue.

The website Madden-School.com published a list of what they say are early rankings for the version of the game due later this summer (emphasizing that the numbers could change but could also stay the same.)

Below are the rankings released for the FSU football alums that were listed (expect for players from five teams: Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver and Tampa Bay – so no rankings for Jameis, DeMarcus and others just yet).

"Philadephia EaglesRonald Darby – 86, Nigel Bradham – 84, Tim Jernigan – 81Atlanta FalconsDevonta Freeman – 90Jacksonville JaguarsJalen Ramsey – 96, Telvin Smith – 88Oakland RaidersRodney Hudson – 84Los Angeles RamsLamarcus Joyner – 88Washington RedskinsChris Thompson – 83New Orleans SaintsPatrick Robinson – 82Minnesota VikingsXavier Rhoders – 92, Dalvin Cook – 86"

Alright, some quick thoughts off the top on the FSU football alums that we know about. First, I do love that Jalen Ramsey and Xavier Rhodes are getting respected as two of the top cornerbacks in the league – thought I am kind of upset that Lamarcus Joyner didn’t get into the 90s with his season last year.

Second, with all do respect to our friends on the World Champions from the city of brotherly love, I do think that both Bradham and Jernigan got a bump from being a part of the Eagles’ title season. I think the same for Robinson, who signed to go back to the Saints in the offseason after getting a ring.

Third, I don’t think Devonta Freeman and Chris Thompson are getting the respect they should – Freeman is a top running back in the league and should be a 93 like Le’Veon Bell while Thompson is at least an 87 after showing what he could do before an injury sidelined him last season.

Next: Jalen Ramsey should be higher on NFL’s Top 100 list

Finally, I can’t wait to see what the ranking is for former FSU football star and current Los Angeles Chargers rookie Derwin James – who might be the early leader for rookie of the year if he can live up to potential. I’ll say this: first year player or not, if he is anywhere below 90 in the ratings, it’s a joke.
