FSU Football: Experts sending Noles to Belk Bowl in early projections
By Jason Parker
FSU football has only been to Charlotte to play in the ACC title game – but several websites are already sending them their for the 2018 bowl season.
In the 71 seasons that FSU football has been taking the field, the Seminoles have only played in the Queen City – better known as Charlotte, North Carolina – a total of four times. All four of those appearances have come in the month of December when the Noles have taken part in the ACC Championship Game since it moved there in the 2010 season.
After losing the first edition inside Bank of America Stadium to Virginia Tech that season, the Seminoles rattled off three straight victories from 2012 to 2014 – defeating Georgia Tech twice by a combined eight points and blowing out Duke in between by 38 points.
According to some of the early predictions with just three and a half months to go until the start of the 2018 season, FSU football will be heading back to Charlotte this December – but not during the first Saturday, but for New Years Eve.
Three college football outlets – Sporting News, College Football News and 247 Sports – all have released bowl predictions for the upcoming season with all having the Seminoles playing in the Belk Bowl for the first time in program history.

If this were to be the case, a meeting between FSU football and the Razorbacks would be the first time the programs have ever played while the Seminoles and Tigers have met nine times – including their first meeting in the 1968 Peach Bowl – with the Noles holding a 7-2 advantage having won four straight, including their last meeting in the 1991 season.
In the bowl selection order of the ACC, the Belk Bowl normally comes in third behind the Orange and Camping World bowl games. Almost all the projections have Clemson heading to the Orange (a playoff semifinal this season) along with Miami making a New Years Six bowl game and Virginia Tech heading to Orlando – meaning they all feel the Seminoles will finish second in the ACC Atlantic this season.
