FSU football knows they are going to have quite the task ahead of them in the opening game against the Hokies – but one person is already calling a FSU loss.

I know we aren’t going to exactly be breaking news with this one, but the FSU football team is going to have quite the difficult schedule during the upcoming season. In case you’ve been living under a rock or not reading Chop Chat every week, the Seminoles made someone mad to get a schedule including Clemson, Miami, Florida and Notre Dame among the foes.

Of course, the fun and excitement starts on Labor Day when the Willie Taggart era officially gets underway when the Virginia Tech Hokies come to Tallahassee in a game featuring teams that have combined to win seven of the last 13 ACC titles – twice facing each other with each coming away with a victory (FSU football in 2005, the Hokies in 2010).

There are plenty of people saying that the opening game will be the most important for the Seminoles as it will set the tone as to whether this team is going to rebound from what took place last season. According to one writer, the Noles are going to do what they did three times last season inside Doak Campbell Stadium: lose.

Pete Fiutak from College Football News gave his predictions for the first week of games and says he likes the Hokies over FSU football in a close one.

"The Hokies defensive front will be frothing at the mouth from the start, jumping all over the great Seminole running backs to slow down the attack. It might not be a brilliant performance, but with the upset win on the road on a Monday night, Virginia Tech will be the big story to come out of Week One."

Currently, the Seminoles are just under a touchdown favorite by Vegas insiders, but this man is not buying into that at all.

Yes, I will give the Hokies credit as having a great defense like they always have – but I would love to know what kind of offense he thinks they have since he has them winning 23-20 over the Seminoles. With what I think are defenses being equal, a slight advantage sticks with the Noles since the running game will be a three headed monster and whoever starts at QB is a solid choice.

This writer also, just days before, predicted the Seminoles to have eight wins on the season – which would mean that if FSU football loses the opener, he thinks the Noles will beat at least one of those other tougher foes in the group of five (Miami, ND, Clemson or UF).

Personally, I think the Seminoles start off the year unbeaten – but you’ll have to wait until August 13th for our previews to start.
