FSU football has plenty of athletes who are among the best in the nation – and three of them proved such with a ranking of top players to watch in 2018.

When people looked at the 2017 season for FSU football and wondered how the heck that team could have only won seven games during the year, one of the assumptions was the the talent level had gone down from previous seasons. That couldn’t be further from the truth with over a dozen players heading to the NFL and a stable of talent still in Tallahassee.

Names like Cam Akers, James Blackman, Deondre Francois, Brian Burns and more are among those top talent that will be able to help the Seminoles come back to be a relevant team in the 2018 season. It’s a group that could play with any team in the country and several players who could be in the NFL for the 2019 season.

Speaking of the NFL, draft analyst Chad Rueter recently ranked the top 150 college football players entering the 2018 season – both draft eligible and those with some time left in the college game – and gave a trio of FSU football players love as being a part of the list.

"No. 11 – Cam Akers, Running BackThe Seminoles’ struggles last season kept Akers’ name out of the headlines for the most part, but his explosiveness with the ball in his hands is impressive. His willingness to lower his pads and take on defenders is not lost on scouts, either.No. 78 – Deondre Francois, QuarterbackNo. 88 – Brian Burns, Defensive End"

It’s no secret that the Seminoles are going to need a great season from Akers and Burns if they want to get back into ACC contention – while Francois is going to be back and healthy and ready to get his starting spot back after missing most of last season with a bad knee injury.

FSU football is going to be fine and people who think otherwise are sorely mistaken – heck, Akers is already getting love at every level from people saying he might be one of the best players in the ACC (he’s the second one on this list) and might get some early Heisman Trophy love. So stay tuned, fans – this year is going to be an interesting one.
