NFL Draft: Fans react to teams passing on Derwin James
By Kelvin Hunt
Derwin James didn’t go as early in the NFL Draft as some people thought he would.
It’s the second consecutive year a former FSU football player didn’t go as high in the NFL Draft as he should have when looking at at Dalvin Cook last year.
Derwin James was thought to be a topCo 10 pick at one point, but managed to fall to the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 17.
The biggest thing seemed to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers passing on Derwin James TWICE when they had a need a the safety position.
The Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals had a need at safety and chose to bypass Derwin James as well.

Thoughts
The Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans on my social media timeline were hilarious, and you can see how upset they were with some of the tweets I posted.
They could have drafted Dalvin Cook last year too, but decided not to and we saw what Cook could do in the NFL before going down with the knee injury.
The only downside to James going to the Chargers is we’ll get to see very little of him with those west coast games. However, as long as he gets paid that’s all that matters.
He’ll join the likes of FSU great Lamarcus Joyner (Rams) in the state of California. The Chargers went (9-7) in 2017, but six of those losses were by five points or less.

They have a great young nucleus with Joey Bosa at defensive end and cornerback Casey Howard. The Chargers adding James just got a lot better and could make some noise in 2018.
