FSU football has a much better quarterback situation than going into the 2017 season.

FSU football quarterback depth was the biggest concern for me going into the 2017 season.

Unfortunately, my biggest fear came to fruition near the end of the Alabama game when Deondre Francois went down with a season ending injury.

It was one of the most disappointing seasons in FSU football history, but there were positives that emerged from those ashes.

The turbulent season allowed FSU to go into the 2018 season with two quarterbacks that have starting experience and another with a redshirt season under his belt.

Of course, Francois will not be able to fully participate in practice until fall camp comes around(unless he continues to hang around those seemingly influence him to make dumb off the field decisions).

So going into the spring game Saturday the conversation centered around sophomore James Blackman and redshirt freshman Bailey Hockman.

FSU fans seem split on who they want to be the quarterback in 2018. Some try to compare Blackman’s season to Francois’s first year when it’s not close to apples to apples comparison.

A lot of folk underestimate how valuable that redshirt season is for quarterbacks to learn, not to mention Blackman wasn’t an early enrollee like Bailey Hockman in spring 2017.

Let’s get into the quarterback observations from the spring game.
