No. 5 – QB Jameis Winson (2013-2014)

Why he should be honored: Though he was the starting quarterback for just 27 games in his college career, it would be hard to argue that the Alabama native is not in the conversation as one of the best to EVER wear the garnet and gold on the football field – including a season to remember inside Doak Campbell Stadium.

Winston has the second best season in terms of yards in program history after throwing for 4,057 yards and a season best 40 touchdowns during the 2013 title campaign – 110 yards behind Chris Weinke, which is amazing considering Winston didn’t play much if any of the second half of most games. His 7,964 yards and 65 touchdowns ranks third and second in school history respectively behind players who needed four years to best what he did in two.

He won six national awards in 2013, including the Heisman Trophy along with the Walter Camp Award, Davey O’Brien Award and being named the AP and ACC player of the year. This is an honor that might have to wait, as off field accusations have put a stain on the honors for what Winston did for FSU football – including the team not getting an invite to the White House – so we’ll see if it happens.
