FSU football has some of the best celebrated with their numbers or jerseys retired – and here is the next group that should get that honor.

At some point during the 2018 season, the FSU football team will bestow an honor upon former All-American wide receiver Peter Warrick – when his famous No. 9 jersey he wore while leading the Seminoles to the 1999 national title will become the 11th number all time to be honored in the history of the Seminoles program.

While the school discontinued the practice of retiring numbers during the 1990’s – as Fred Biletnikoff (No. 25), Ron Sellers (No. 34), Ron Simmons (No. 50) and Charlie Ward (No. 17) are the only ones with that honor – six other players (No. 2 Deion Sanders, No. 10 Derrick Brooks, No. 16 Chris Weinke, No. 27 Terrell Buckley, No. 28 Warrick Dunn and No. 55 Marvin Jones) have had their jerseys retired to remember their accomplishments.

Warrick is the latest to be honored for his career with FSU football – but there are plenty more who could be getting the honor soon enough. While some players had great seasons – LeRoy Butler in 1989, Casey Weldon in 1991 or Roberto Aguayo in 2013 – there are some that stood out for doing work year after year…and these are the top five numbers that need to be honored next.
