Tempo

A lot was made of the slow pace FSU football used last year under the old regime. Last year was a bit of an outlier with FSU only running 808 offensive plays all season.

In contrast, Willie Taggart’s offense ran 939 plays last season. Everything at FSU this spring has been fast. So fast they put up at sign at practice that read “speed limit: fast” haha.

Players have acknowledged the tempo does makes things more difficult when it comes to learning the plays and executing. However, the staff seems to be pleased with how fast they are picking up things and learning.

It looks like the offense is able to run plays about every 14 seconds or so thus far in spring camp. That’s light years different from this past year when the ball was snapped with under 10 seconds remaining on the play clock.

Willie Taggart said they were going to have some scrimmages in the coming week prior to the spring game taking place next month.
