Matthew Thomas

"DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 6-7"

"NFL Comparison: Nigel Bradham"

"BOTTOM LINE Thomas is lacking in many of the areas teams covet in linebacker play. His instincts are poor, he doesn’t always play with a competitive demeanor, he’s not a downhill player and he lacks play strength and productivity for the position. However, Thomas does possess a long frame with outstanding play speed and the potential to make plays. It’s his athletic traits and “potential” that will give him a shot as a WILL linebacker who will need to excel on special teams to stick with a team long-term."

Thoughts

Oh what could have been for Matthew Thomas. I have to be honest, the fact Matthew Thomas made it four years at FSU is an accomplishment in itself.

The kid has endured quite a bit from poor decision to the death of his mother while at FSU. However, he still found a way despite not living up to what most thought he would become.

Some of that was on Thomas, but a lot of that was on the coaching he did or did not receive. He’s the type of guy with unreal athletic ability that could shine at the NFL Combine knowing there’s lots of money on the line.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Thomas sneak into the fifth round with a strong combine.
