Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming week of games scheduled for play during the 2017-18 basketball season.

If anyone said the current season for the FSU basketball team was going to be an easy one, they would look like fools at this point – as the same Seminoles team who lost to bad teams that won’t sniff the postseason put it together this past week for two big wins that had fans holding their breaths.

Now, the Noles have a chance to take a slight breather with just one game on this week’s slate as they continue their efforts to move up in the ACC standings – and with just three games left in the regular season, the room for error is virtually none at this point if Florida State wants to go dancing again in the NCAA Tournament.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

After a bad loss days before against Notre Dame, the Seminoles showed some Valentine’s Day love to their fans with a come from behind win over a ranked Clemson team. FSU basketball found themselves down by double digits in the second half before tying the game with seven minutes to go.

The Tigers would take a six-point lead with under two and a half minutes to go before the trio of Terance Mann, Phil Cofer and Trent Forrest tied the game and sent it to overtime. In the extra frame, a layup from Forrest gave the Seminoles a lead they would not give back, coming out on top 81-79.

After that big ranked win over the Tigers, Florida State hosted a Pitt Panthers team who was the only winless team in ACC play entering the game. No one told the Panthers they were a 21 point underdog, shooting nearly 60 percent from three point range in the first half and holding a one point lead.

Fortunately, the Noles woke up in the second half and shot nearly 61 percent from the field – led by 18 points from P.J. Savoy and 14 each from Phil Cofer and MJ Walker for the 88-75 win. Florida State overcame the first half benching for Terance Mann and Braian Angola, who combined for just four points in the game.

Opponent Preview

It’s a light work week for FSU basketball as they have all week to prepare for a road game against the N.C. State Wolfpack. The men from Raleigh have an 18-9 record heading into this week, including winning five of their last seven games to pad their resume for the NCAA Tournament – and will host Boston College on Tuesday before hosting the Noles.

Interesting Fact

With just two weeks to go in the regular season, all eyes will soon be turning to what takes place in Brooklyn for the ACC Tournament. If the postseason was set to begin today, the Seminoles would end up seeing a familiar foe in their first game – as Florida State would be the eighth seed, getting a Tuesday bye and opening up Wednesday against the rival Miami Hurricanes.
