FSU Football hasn’t made it to the conference championship game since the 2014 season – but one website is picking that to change this year.

In the 13 seasons that the ACC has played a football conference championship game, FSU football has been a part of the action five times – winning four crowns and losing the 2010 affair against Virginia Tech. After making it to four games over a five game stretch, the Seminoles have missed out on the action the last three seasons.

After going 7-6 last season – a season that included needing to win the final three regular season games just to get to a bowl game – and with the three time conference champion Clemson Tigers still looking stacked, there aren’t a lot of people outside of Tallahassee who have a lot of faith the Seminoles can get back to Charlotte and get back on top of the ACC.

Well, aside from Chop Chat, there is another website who has faith in FSU football next season. College Football News released their pre-spring football predictions for the 2018 season – and while they have Clemson with a better overall record, it’s the Seminoles they have going to play for the title.

"Prespring Prediction: 10-2Prespring ACC Prediction: 7-1Sept. 3 Virginia TechSept. 8 SamfordSept. 15 at SyracuseSept. 22 Northern IllinoisSept. 29 at LouisvilleOct. 6 at MiamiOct. 13 OPEN DATEOct. 20 Wake ForestOct. 27 ClemsonNov. 3 at NC StateNov. 10 at Notre DameNov. 17 Boston CollegeNov. 24 Florida"

The website has the Tigers going 11-1 on the season, but with their sole loss being to the Seminoles it would be Florida State playing for the conference championship. The site’s predictions have the Noles playing Miami in the title game – having the ‘Canes going 10-2 with their losses against Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

There is no doubt that the schedule is going to be full of land mines for FSU football, but with Miami and N.C. State being the two toughest conference road games, a split of those games would keep the Seminoles in good shape. Last season, Clemson needed an interception of a true freshman’s pass to get the win over the Noles, so it’s not like there is a huge gap.

The game that gets me on those predictions, honestly, is saying the Seminoles will lose to Notre Dame. I don’t know why people keep drinking the Fighting Irish punch lately – what have they done in recent seasons to prove they are a top team?
