FSU football recruiting is heating up with its second 2018 commitment in the past three days.

FSU football has come out of the recruiting quiet period with a lot of momentum that I can’t help but think was orchestrated by Willie Taggart.

Jalen Goss is the No. 878 player nationally and No. 72 offensive tackle while being the No. 80 ranked player in the state of Georgia.

Goss hails from Lowndes HS, the home of former FSU standouts Greg Reid and Telvin Smith.

He was offered a FSU scholarship on January 10th and committed five days later over schools like Auburn, Miami, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, Virginia Tech and others.

Thoughts

A lot of fans will look at the three-star ranking and think he’s not a quality player. However, offensive linemen are historically hard to rank accurately star wise.

The best thing to look at is obviously his measurables and which other programs have offered him. The programs we listed earlier wouldn’t be offering him if he wasn’t a quality player.

He has outstanding length at 6’7β€³ and the frame to put on another 30 pounds once he gets into FSU’s strength and conditioning program. Goss is currently around 265 pounds and will play at closer to 300 when he’s ready to play likely as a sophomore.

He’s the third offensive lineman in this class. This brings FSU’s 2018 commitment list to 12 total players and up to No. 22 ranking nationally. It’s amazing that just over a month ago FSU was ranked in the 60’s.
