FSU Football: Fans react to addition of Greg Frey to ‘Noles staff

FSU football head coach Willie Taggart is methodically putting together an elite staff in Tallahassee.
A lot of FSU football fans are getting restless with how long it’s taking FSU head coach Willie Taggart to announce his staff.
Taggart’s officially been on the job a month today and still has openings at defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, defensive backs coach and wide receivers coach.
However, he eliminated a big one Thursday with the hiring of Greg Frey according to Bruce Feldman.
The news had been circulating on social media, but now looks like it’s the real deal and Taggart has made a great hire.

Thoughts
It’s funny to hear Michigan fans thank FSU for taking Frey and bash him. Michigan played three different quarterbacks in 2017 and that was most of their offensive problems along with no having the talent FSU does.
As a team, Michigan averaged 4.37 yards per carry on the season which was tied for No. 61 with FSU football. However, Michigan was No. 114 in the nation with 36 sacks allowed on the season.
Frey has ties to Taggart through Jim Harbaugh and will be familiar with the blocking concepts Taggart will want to implement in the run game.
He’s a good recruiter too, but another aspect that’ll be underappreciated is he brings some diversity to Taggart’s staff. He’s the first addition to the staff that’s white and is considerably younger than Rick Trickett who was offensive line coach under the former regime.

Frey has a history of putting offensive linemen in the NFL which should help on the recruiting trails. Frey was a member of the 1993 national title team.
