FSU football looked like the future is bright for the Taggart era to begin.
A FSU football season with national championship aspirations came to and end Wednesday as the ‘Noles knocked off Southern Mississippi in the Independence Bowl.
A bowl that seems fitting in hindsight as this FSU football team seems to be a different since gaining independence from Jimbo Fisher.
The offense was more crisp, the defense played with swagger and kids seemed like they actually wanted to be on the field.
It was a big win as it officially puts the clock on the Willie Taggart era at FSU football and expectations are sky-high once again.
Check out how fans and media reacted to the ‘Noles big win on Wednesday.

A man right in front of me at the #IndependenceBowl was attending his 337th consecutive Florida State game. That's dedication.

Thanks to Coach Haggins and the #Noles for shepherding the nation’s current longest winning seasons in a row streak to 41 with today’s thoroughly dominating 42-13 #IndependenceBowl win over S. Miss to finish 7-6. Glad Odell remains on staff, and let the Willie Taggart era begin!

Thoughts
I can’t say I’m glad the season is over now that I know what’s possible with this team. It’s full of a ton of hungry young players that should help Willie Taggart change the culture in Tallahassee.
In fact, that change has already begun and why the teams looks so different attitude wise. This team is fun to watch again and to put up over 40 points against a defense that was ranked higher than FSU is impressive.
In fact, they could have scored over 50 if they wanted too. The storylines going into the off-season will be interesting to say the least. Which upperclassmen are coming back and who’s going to the NFL?
Who will be the starting quarterback next season? What will Taggart’s offense look like? Who will be the defensive coordinator and how much better will the defense look next season?

It’s going to be fun to cover that’s for sure and I’m already counting down to spring ball.
