FSU Football: Experts love Noles to win 2017 Independence Bowl
By Jason Parker
FSU football is a heavy favorite to win their second straight bowl game – and experts from several different sites are backing the Seminoles.
Over the past few seasons, bowl games have been a case of ups and downs for FSU football. The Seminoles have won games easily they were favored big in as well as struggling in ones they were supposed to have no problem winning. Last season, experts thought the Noles would lose their third straight bowl before FSU did work on the field and brought home an Orange Bowl crown.
To conclude the 2017 season, the Noles head to Shreveport, Louisiana for their first ever appearance in the Independence Bowl, where they are as much as a two touchdown favorite over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Right now, it seems that everyone from Tallahassee to Las Vegas thinks the Seminoles will have no problem adding to their trophy case (FSU football stands as the second biggest favorite of the bowl season, behind FAU being an over 20 point favorite in their game). Heck, even the Chop Chat staff was unanimous in picking the Seminoles.
But for those who don’t bleed garnet and gold, the respect is still there for the Noles. Over at Sports Illustrated (the parent company to FanSided, which is the parent company of Chop Chat), not only do their college football experts all pick Florida State – but some are giving it one of their highest confidence picks of the bowl season out of the 39 games:
"Andy Staples – Florida State (17 points)Bruce Feldman – Florida State (39)Joan Niesen – Florida State (28)Chris Johnson – Florida State (6)Eric Single – Florida State (7)Molly Geary – Florida State (39)Scooby Axson – Florida Stat (35)"
At the same time, sports website The Spun is also going all in with the Seminoles as all eight experts picked FSU football to bring home the Independence Bowl title – one of just 12 games where they all picked the same team, up from SI experts who picked nine games the same.

Now, I don’t write this to get fans and the FSU football family over confident for this one – after all, Southern Miss is a good team and at the rate this season has gone, I think we would all take a 3-0 victory right now. However, if everyone seems to be thinking the same thing, it might be a good sign that things will end up turning out our way.
