The final college football polls of the 2017 regular season are out – and the ACC is back on top of the world after several upsets this weekend.

As the final games for most teams of the 2017 college football regular season came to an end, rivalry weekend across the country provided some amazing outcomes, monumental upsets and a record fifth straight win for FSU football over the hated rival Florida Gators. While that win didn’t get the Noles back in the rankings (shocking, I know), the results did shake up this week’s polls.

Recapping The Top Five

After top ranked Alabama and second ranked Miami both got bit by the upset bullet this weekend, the Clemson Tigers are back on top of the college football world, thanks in part to their win over South Carolina. The Tigers finished last season on top of the polls after winning the national title.

Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma, who dominated their regular season finale against West Virginia, followed by Wisconsin – who has their highest ranking since the early 1960’s – and the combo of Auburn and Alabama following the Tigers’ Iron Bowl win over the Crimson Tide to end the regular season.

Biggest Winners and Losers

The team that made the biggest jump in both polls was the Stanford Cardinal after their convincing win over Notre Dame. The Cardinal jumped six spots in the AP Poll and five spots in the Coaches Poll and will take on USC in next week’s Pac 12 Title Game.

Those Fighting Irish were one of the bigger losers of the weekend, dropping six and eight spots respectively in the polls. They were joined by Miami (five spots in both polls), Washington State (seven spots) and Mississippi State (eight and seven spots respectively).

College Football Playoff preview?

If the playoff rankings are anything like what you see here, it will be a winner take all weekend in college football. All of the top four teams will be in action playing for conference titles and can likely make it into the playoff since each of their opponents are also ranked in the Top 10 of the AP poll.

Of course, if any one of them lose, it would open the door for the Alabama Crimson Tide to do what Ohio State did last season – not even make their conference title game but somehow make it into the playoff system.
