FSU football has had plenty of issues with players being injured this season – but those former Noles in the pro game are dealing with the same thing.

Over the course of the 2017 season, the FSU football team has had to deal with more injuries than most others have to deal with over the course of several seasons – starting with the season ending injury to quarterback Deondre Francois that changed how everything was going to go for the rest of the campaign this year.

All the injuries that the college Seminoles have had to deal with have seemed to rub off on the pro Noles, as some of the top former FSU football stars playing in the NFL have been sidelined this season and might not see the field for a while – as one who was having a monster season will be sidelined for the rest of the time.

Of course, the biggest name is Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston. After hurting his shoulder earlier in the season but coming back to play, Winston re-injuried the shoulder in a loss to Arizona and has missed the last two weeks and will be out again this weekend when the Bucs take on the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaking of the dirty birds, their big win two weeks ago over the Dallas Cowboys was marred by losing running back Devonta Freeman to a concussion, entering him in the protocol that forced him to miss last week’s win over the Seattle Seahawks and this week’s game.

Of course, the most serious injury would be to Washington Redskins running back Chris Thompson, who – after leading the offense in several categories this season – went out with a leg injury in the loss to the New Orleans Saints last week that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Thompson’s injury made him the eighth former FSU football star who has been placed on injured reserve this season, a number that includes sensational rookie Dalvin Cook – who was injured for games into the season with an ACL injury that sidelined him the rest of the way.

Injuries are a major part of football that players and teams have to overcome – and there is no group that knows that more than FSU football players, both those currently in Tallahassee and those getting paid by the 32 teams that make up the National Football League.
