***GAME OF THE WEEK*** Alabama at Auburn – It was just a few years ago that we had this same game with not just rivalry implications in the state, but also conference and national title berths on the line with the right to face Florida State for the final BCS championship. Ahhh, memories.

The Crimson Tide are still the toast of college football, making things look easy most of the time and looking like yet another well oiled machine under Nick Saban ready for their customary trip to Atlanta for the SEC title game before heading back to the playoffs.

At the same time, the Tigers were a team who got some respect after playing Clemson tough early in the season, lost a bunch by allowing LSU to come back against them and is now everyone’s darlings since they beat the heck out of Georgia two weeks ago.

Next: FSU, Florida at historic lows entering rivalry showdown

The worst case scenario would be a Tigers win since the Crimson Tide have gained enough collateral that, even with a loss and not making the conference title game, they would still go to Atlanta and give us two playoff teams from the SEC. If they beat Auburn and then Georgia, it will be just one from the SEC – and the world will be a better place.
