FSU football suffered another loss where the offense couldn’t feed off the defensive stops.

The FSU football defense absolutely played well enough to win the game against Clemson. All but one of Clemson’s scoring drives began in FSU territory, and the ‘Noles defense held them to 4.57 ypp.

That’s almost a full yard and a half lower than their season average coming into the FSU game.

The ‘Noles had their opportunities to put themselves in a position to win the game, but also were very lucky not to be blown out in the first half.

Clemson had two fumbles at point-blank range near the FSU goal line that could have easily made it 28-0 in the first half.

It seemed as though must FSU football fans were happy they didn’t get blowed out, but also frustrated that they had a chance to win the game even though they were 17 point underdogs.

Thoughts

It really was a piss poor effort by the FSU offense in the first half. They didn’t even cross the 50 yard line until the third quarter. It was a mix of poor execution, bad decisions and sometimes Jimbo Fisher putting players in positions to fail.

There’s no reason James Blackman should have been dropping back deep in his own end zone with this offensive line. Also, why was Fisher running stretch plays with Jacques Patrick who isn’t fast at all?

Why wasn’t Cam Akers getting more touches in the offense as he’s one of the effective playmakers for FSU?

James Blackman has to start making better decisions and start checking the ball down instead of overthrowing deep balls. There were several instances where guys were wide open but Blackman chose to chuck the ball down field for an incompletion.
