The college football season is now in full swing, so let’s take a stab at trying to make some money.

We’re back with another addition of Chop Chat’s best college football bets. We had a off week eight and finished in the red with a record of 1-3-1.

This now puts our overall record at 18-14-3 after eight weeks.

Recap

  • Michigan St. (-6.5) vs. Indiana-Michigan State at home with the better defense and have played a tougher schedule. Th score in the Minnesota game was not as close as it appeared at the end. Win, lucky to win this one.  Michigan State needed two fourth quarter TD’s to cover.
  • UNC +21 vs. Virginia Tech-i know UNC has struggled this year but three touchdowns in conference play is a lot. Hokies should win it, but I think UNC’s offense can put up enough of a fight to keep this within three scores. Loss, UNC just sucks as a program right now…bad bet.
  • Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech UNDER 48-Wake Forest has a decent defense and limited offense. Georgia Tech likely eats up clock running the ball with the triple option. Loss, didn’t think GT would move the ball as quick on their drives or that WF would score as much.
  • West Virginia -9.5 vs. Baylor-Baylor has lost almost every game by double digits this season and has a weak defense. Baylor’s strength is the pass and West Virginia’s defense should be enough to handle it. Loss, WVU was up THREE scores at the end of the third quarter and then forgot how to play defense to win by two.
  • FSU vs. Louisville OVER 59-I’m not sure FSU can totally contain Lamar Jackson and Louisville’s defense is pretty terrible. Push, what a joke…both teams missed field goals and it landed right on the number.

This Week’s Bets

  • FSU -3 (buy hook) vs. Boston College-Boston College is being overvalued here with wins over Louisville and Virginia the past two weeks. A lot of that was based on forcing turnovers which isn’t sustainable. FSU should cover this.
  • FSU vs. Boston College UNDER 47-Boston College’s offense is limited unless they force turnovers and they rely on the run a lot. FSU will likely run the ball quite a bit too.
  • Louisville -3 vs. Wake Forest-Wake Forest was gashed by GT last week and Lamar Jackson should get loose on them quite a bit.
  • Georgia Tech +14 vs. Clemson-Georgia Tech should be able to run the ball and put up enough points against a Clemson offense that isn’t as good as they were last season.
  • Michigan State -2.5 vs. Northwestern-Michigan State coming off a hard fought win last week should cover against  Northwestern team that has some bad losses.
