FSU football will look to get win number one of the season this Saturday against Wake Forest in what may be the most important game left.

September has quickly come to an end and FSU football has not managed to get a single win. However they’ve only played two games due to the very unfortunate circumstances of Hurricane Irma.

Florida State will kickoff against 4-0 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem North Carolina at 3:30 Saturday. The ‘Noles will be looking for win number one and it will not be easily attained.

Position Battle

Florida State’s defensive front against the Demon Deacons senior QB John Wolford. The three year starter has plenty of experience and it showing this season. He’s completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 676 yards and 8 touchdowns without no interceptions. Much like N.C. State QB Ryan Finley, Wolford  can methodically pick apart a defense with short and accurate passes.

With a sack rate of only 4.6 percent this season, Wolford can keep drives alive and is a big reason why this Wake Forest team is sitting at 4-0 right now. If FSU doesn’t get into the backfield and at least pressure him, he can make the ‘Noles pay. It’s crucial that DEs Josh Sweat and Brian Burns have more of an affect on this game than they did against N.C. State. There needs to be more sense of urgency from those two.

This Wake Forest team is very similar to N.C. State in terms of experience and mistake free football. The talent is not on the level of the Wolfpack’s but the experience and discipline makes up for that. If FSU hasn’t made the necessary adjustments the Seminoles could be in for another long day at the office.

In recent years FSU has struggled in the state of North Carolina and especially at Wake Forest. It feels as though that trend will continue this weekend. I do believe FSU football will come out determined to get this win given the start of their 2017 campaign. FSU wins but it will be another close one. No stress free football this weekend ‘Noles fans.
