FSU football is finally going to be back on the field again this Saturday against NC State. Here we highlight the key position battle for in this match-up.

A lot of eyes will be on the Wolfpack’s defensive line against the ‘Noles offensive line this weekend. However, im going to go over true freshman quarterback James Blackman for FSU football against the pressure of that NC State defensive line.

By now everybody knows about the quarterback situation in Tallahassee. True freshman James Blackman will make his first career start this Saturday against the N.C. State Wolfpack. There has been a lot of confidence coming from Jimbo this past week about Blackman. For the most part all ‘Nole fans have expressed the same feelings on social media as well.

Between the time Blackman has had to prepare and the experienced DL he will face this weekend, this should be a very telling game of what to expect from the freshman. Blackman versus the pass rush of N.C. State is going to be interesting to watch. How he reacts and makes decisions will be key for the outcome of this game.

An experienced defensive front averaging a weight of 297.5 pounds versus a 169 pound true freshman quarterback is certainly a recipe for disaster. Its safe to assume that N.C. State’s defensive line is licking their chops to get after Blackman.

Expectations:

I expect Jimbo to hand the ball off early and often to start the game. Coach Fisher does a great job game planning for any situation and I expect no different here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a quarterback run play early as well. Just to settle the nerves of Blackman. Although, Blackman has the ability to go over top of defenses with his long ball so watch out for that as well.

I am picking Florida State to win this game. Players and fans have been anxiously awaiting for FSU football to be back. Given that, there should be no shortage of support in Doak Campbell Stadium Saturday afternoon. I do think this will be a battle and will be a ballgame going into the 4th quarter. I trust the defense will do their job and get the stops needed to give the offense every chance possible.

Do not compare James Blackman to Jameis (looking at you FSU Twitter) and expect him to pitch a perfect a game. Its not going to happen. Its more likely than not that he will make mistakes and possibly have a turnover or two after this game. Only time will tell how good this team can be with James Blackman at the helm.
