College Football Betting: Chop Chat’s top 5 bets of week 3
By Kelvin Hunt
The college football season is now in full swing, so let’s take a stab at trying to make some money.
We’re back with another addition of Chop Chat’s best college football bets. Last week was our first week back after missing the first week, and I’m proud to report we finished in the black with a 3-2 record overall.
Recap
- Louisville -10 vs. UNC (buy down to -9.5)-This one went just as we thought with the UNC defense not being able to stop Lamar Jackson and company. Louisville’s defense let it be closer than it should have been but we got the cover by more than enough.
- Wake Forest -PK vs. BC-This one went just how I expected. We thought Wake Forest was the better offense and defense was on par with Boston College. Wake won this game handily 31-10.
- Fresno St.-+45 vs. Alabama-This game went as expected too. Alabama built a sizable lead and Fresno State was able to move the ball enough to eat up the clock with the final score of 41-10.
- Missouri -2.5 vs. South Carolina-Well, Missouri jumped out to a 10-0 lead and then proceeded to get outscored 31-3 over final three-quarters. However, three turnovers and allowing a 97 yard kickoff return for a touchdown isn’t going to get it done.
- Marshall vs. NC State UNDER 55.5-Who in the world would have thought Marshall would have scored 20 points in the FIRST HALF? NC State shut then out in the second half and won the game 37-20.

This Week’s Bets
- Clemson -3 vs. Louisville-Louisville lost a ton on offense as far as receiving threats from last year and their defense isn’t anywhere close to where it has been in years past. Clemson’s offense isn’t what it was with Deshaun Watson, but their defense is legit and defense travels on the road.
- Oklahoma St -13 vs. Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh defense is non-existent as it was last year and the loss of their offensive coordinator from last year has been huge. Okie lite should roll here.
- Fresno St +33 vs. Washington-I’m going to well again with Fresno State. I think their offense is good enough to keep it closer with Washington…whose defense is a step down from Alabama.
- South Carolina -6.5 vs. Kentucky-Kentucky allowed 5 ypp against Eastern Kentucky and the score was 17-16 going into the fourth quarter. South Carolina has looked competent on offense and special teams and defense should be good.
- North Carolina -10 vs. Old Dominion-North Carolina held up pretty well against Lamar Jackson for three-quarters and the offense averaged 6.6 ypp against Louisville. They need a big win after starting the season 0-2 and this Old Dominion team comes at the perfect time.
