FSU football has plenty of fans who think the Seminoles will win their opener, but the school’s leader is doubling down and putting more pressure.

One week from today, FSU football will be in Atlanta preparing for the biggest opening week game in college football when the third ranked Seminoles take on the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. If the Noles are to come out with a win, it would be considered an upset by many since Florida State is a seven point underdog and many are picking the Tide to win.

Well, one of the most powerful people on campus is not thinking that way – and he is throwing some major shade at FSU football’s opponent just a week before the Seminoles are going to have to back it up.

School president John Thrasher, a Florida State graduate who was one of the biggest supporters of the school in the state legislature before being named its leader, is doubling down not only on the Seminoles winning the game – but there being absolutely no question in his mind about the game’s outcome:

Come on, Mr. President – the last thing that head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide needs is some more bulletin board material. I mean, there is no problem with thinking it (as some Chop Chat staff and readers do), but lets keep that among ourselves for the time being.

At the same point, what is the president of the school and, by default, the leader of the FSU football team supposed to say? “I hope we can hang with them and make it respectable” – no, that doesn’t fly. A team feeds off the confidence of those who have their backs – and Thrasher has a can’t stop, won’t stop attitude when it comes to the Seminoles.

So, you know what? I was wrong, President Thrasher – let Alabama know how bad things are going to be next weekend when the experience the world of the Seminoles!
