FSU Football: Jimbo Fisher has perfect answer to Alabama game question
By Jason Parker
FSU football is less than seven weeks from opening against the Crimson Tide – and the Noles head coach dropped the mic when talking about the game.
Even with over a month and a half to go until FSU football takes the field against the Alabama Crimson Tide, fans of both schools and college football as a whole can’t wait to see the Seminoles take the field. Part of it is those rooting for Florida State, those rooting against Alabama and those who want to see if the Noles can hang with what has been perceived as the best team this decade.
During ACC Football Kickoff this past week, FSU football head coach Jimbo Fisher was asked about what could end up being the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 game to open up a season – and a game that could put the Seminoles in the early driver’s seat to be a College Football Playoff favorite if they can beat the Tide.
How did Fisher respond to the question about playing such a tough game early on?
"“Well, I scheduled it, so I’d better be ready for it.”"
Alright…well, thanks coach!
In all seriousness, Fisher hit the nail on the head regarding the fact that there is nothing you can do about the game now. It’s on the schedule and will take place September 2nd in Atlanta whether the Seminoles are ready or not.
Fisher went on to comment more about the toughness of this year’s slate – including a September that could be the toughest month in decades for the Seminoles:
"“…We open up with Alabama, we finish with Florida. That’s been the SEC Championship game the last two years. Our ability in the ACC to go schedule non-conference teams and, as I said, our league is as good as anybody, so I think our schedule is going to be very demanding.”"

Last year, a tough opening game win for FSU football gave way to two losses in the first five games of the season. With games against Alabama, Miami and N.C. State before the end of September, Fisher must to a job of making sure the Seminoles team knows that win or lose against the Tide, it’s more than a one game season.
