The 2017 FSU rookie measurements were released at the ACC Media Kickoff Thursday in Charlotte, NC. We give our thoughts on the measurements.

There are lots of things that usually come out of the ACC Media Kickoff events each year. There’s the players representing each team, the coaches talking about the upcoming season and more.

One thing is the heights and weights from the newest class of signees can be discussed and their potential impact as freshmen.

FSU released the measurements for those players and all I can say is FSU signed a bunch of grown a** men.

Check out all the measurements below:

PlayerHeightWeight
James Blackman (QB)6-foot-5185
Cam Akers (RB)5-foot-11213
Khalan Laborn (RB)5-foot-11199
Tre’ McKitty (TE)6-foot-4235
Stanford Samuels III (CB)6-foot-2170
Bailey Hockman (QB)6-foot-2187
Joshua Kaindoh (DE)6-foot-6250
Cyrus Fagan (S)6-foot-2180
Tamorrion Terry (WR)6-foot-4208
Marvin Wilson (DT)6-foot-5329
Adonis Thomas (LB)6-foot-4228
Hamsah Nasirlideen (S)6-foot-4210
DeCalon Brooks (LB)5-foot-10195
Zaquandre White (RB)6-foot210
Ontaria Wilson (CB)6-foot175
D.J. Matthews (WR)5-foot-10160
Deonte Sheffield (RB)5-foot-9198
Leonard Warner (LB)6-foot-4230
Brady Scott (OL)6-foot-6285
Alex Marshall (TE)6-foot-8240
Cory Durden (DT)6-foot-5320
Ja’len Parks (DT)6-foot-4304
Tre Lawson (DE)6-foot-6248

Going down the list, I’m going to group these players into two groups. They either need to add weight or they are already a manchild.Thoughts

Add Weight

  • James Blackman
  • Stanford Samuels II
  • Bailey Hockman
  • Cyrus Fagan
  • Ontaria Wilson
  • D.J. Matthews

Man Child

  • Cam Akers
  • Tre McKitty
  • Joshua Kaindoh
  • Marvin Wilson
  • Adonis Thomas
  • Hamsah Nasirlideen
  • Leonard Warner
  • Alex Marshall
  • Corey Durden
  • Ja’Len Parks
  • Tre Lawson

This is an excellent group of players with size and length that should feature superstars and great role players when it’s said and done. I’d look for a few of them to play meaningful snaps as true freshmen.

Cam Akers will definitely be on the field and could be a starter before the season is over. Tre McKitty could be a mismatch waiting to happen in two tight end sets.

D.J. Matthews could possibly see limited duty in certain situations.  Stanford Samuels II should see time in the secondary.

Joshua Kaindoh, Marvin Wilson and Adonis Thomas could see some meaningful snaps on defense.
