A national writer compared Derwin James to the late Sean Taylor and former FSU football defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Miami fans lost their minds.

It all started when Sports Illustrated named FSU football safety Derwin James as their No. 1 player in college football.

The reactions began to pour in, and by all accounts it’s a position that most people have come to accept even if they are not FSU football fans.

However, national writer Chris Martin Palmer gave his opinion on Derwin James when the news broke. He said on Twitter:

"Sports Illustrated named FSU’s Derwin James the No.1 player in CFB. The BEST athlete I’ve ever seen. Can play 11 positions. Legit. DE to CB."

That’s high praise and believable, but his next Tweet is what sent Miami Hurricane fans into a frenzy as their beloved Sean Taylor was mentioned:

Thoughts

I shouldn’t be surprised coming from Miami fans but most of these comments are ridiculous. James wears he is jersey like a what? James only makes flash plays? How can a player be called soft for not playing the safety position with a torn meniscus?

That’s called being smart when you are not getting paid to play college ball and will be a future top 5 pick in the NFL Draft. Miami fans gonna learn today!

Still waiting on James to make a significant play? Hahaha! The fact of the matter is Sean Taylor arguably isn’t even the best safety to play at Miami and goto the NFL (gasp).

That title should probably go to Miami’s Ed Reed who played longer and had better stats than Taylor. So take the comment/comparison for what it was, a way to describe the physical abilities of Derwin James. Nothing more, nothing less.
