FSU football is in a similar position recruiting wise as last year. Could the ‘Noles be on the verge of recruiting momentum?

It’s funny how college football recruiting works as perception trumps reality most of the time. FSU football is in a very similar position compared to this time last year.

Actually, it’s in a slightly better position.

Around this time last year FSU football has seven commits, ranked No. 14 in the nation and No. 4 in the ACC.

The Miami Hurricanes were ranked No.1.

The ‘Noles lost five-star linebacker VanDarius Cowan to Alabama and FSU football fans lost their minds thinking the class would be trash.

The ‘Noles are ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the ACC, and missed on four-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell who chose Ohio State after FSU led for much of his recruitment.

Again, FSU fans lost their minds and allowed doubt to creep in about the ability of Jimbo Fisher and the staff(who I agree does need to get younger).

However, recently the ‘Noles have put themselves in the mix for five-star quarterback Justin Fields who decommitted from Penn State on June 6. He has stated he’s like to make a decision on his commitment before his senior year begins this fall.

Four-star recruit Joshua Moore is set to announcement his decision to commit to either FSU, Nebraska or Texas A&M on June 18th.

FSU football is also in the mix for four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson who’s expected to announce his decision sometime this summer.

FSU landed Alexander Marshall and Stanford Samuels this time last year.

Thoughts

Jimbo Fisher’s football camps start Wednesday and a number of players will likely attend to workout. Players that don’t make that camp will have an opportunity to attend Fisher’s second camp beginning July 19th.

It’s possible FSU could land a couple of commitments in the coming weeks.

If the ‘Noles were able to land Fields, Moore and Thompson they would be huge additions to the 2018 recruiting class.
