FSU Football: Website snubs FSU’s third BCS title game performance
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has been involved in some great games over the past 10 years. One website says they haven’t been in any of the top 10 games of last decade.
As FSU football fans you’re accustomed to watching great games because the ‘Noles are not afraid to play against stiff competition.
They were always willing to play anybody, anytime and anywhere under Bobby Bowden and that same attitude has been adopted by Jimbo Fisher.
FSU is routinely one of a few teams that TV networks can count on to deliver when it comes to ratings. The ‘Noles have led the ACC in the department forever, and a prime example is their prime time game against Alabama in September.
Think about the number of memorable games FSU has been in over the last decade. Here are few that come to mind:
- FSU vs. Clemson (2012)
- FSU vs. Louisville (2014)
- FSU vs. Notre Dame (2014)
- FSU vs. Michigan (2016)
- FSU vs. Auburn (2013 BCS Championship)
I’m sure there’s more, but that’s five right off the top of my head that I would consider instant classics. All of them were crazy exciting, and all of them were big time games with highly ranked opponents with some crazy finishes.
So how in the world did a Sports Illustrated writer have a top 10 games list of the last decade and not include at least one of these games on it? I’ll give you her 6-10:
10. Houston vs. Louisville (2015)
9. Baylor vs. TCU (2014)
8. ECU vs. Tulsa (2014)
7. Texas A&M vs. Duke (2013)
6. Missouri vs. Kansas (2007)
Thoughts
So FSU’s comeback win over Auburn in the 2013 BCS title game isn’t better than any of these games?
I can’t front, a couple of these games were very exciting, but I can’t fathom FSU’s title game not supplanting at least one of these games. It’s one of the best title games in history, and I’m not saying that just because FSU football came back to win its third title.

It had all types of ebs and flows, key plays, a 100 yard kickoff return and a last-minute touchdown drive to win a national championship.
I know she said she couldn’t please everybody, but she could do her list justice by adding at least this game and taking out one of these other games that didn’t mean anything.
