FSU Recruiting: Noles Make Cut For 2018 Five Star D-Line Recruit
By Jason Parker
FSU found themselves in the latest list of schools being considered by Micah Parsons, one of the top recruits in the entire country for next year’s class.
In recent weeks, the 2018 recruiting class for FSU football has had its share of good moments – including the addition of four star linebacker Amari Gainer from the Tallahassee area and three star running back Jashaun Corbin from the Melbourne area. Those additions have kept the Seminoles ranked as one of the top classes in the country according to several outlets.
Even with a hot start, Florida State coaches are still going out there trying to convince top recruits that Tallahassee is the place for them. The coaching staff got a bit of good news when they found out that FSU is still in the running for not just the best defensive end in the country – but one of the best recruits regardless of position.
Micah Parsons, a 6’3″, 235 lbs. rising high school senior from the Harrisburg, PA area, has put the Seminoles in his group of final nine teams he is considering:
Parsons had initially been committed to Penn State, but withdrew his verbal commitment and re-opened his recruitment. Currently ranked the top DE and top player from Pennsylvania by 247 Sports, he is ranked right now as the No. 3 overall recruit in the country and good rise higher with a solid senior season.
While some experts believe it’s a two horse race between Penn State and Ohio State for Parsons’ services, FSU should feel they have a shot by being in the running still at this point. Currently, the Seminoles have two defensive ends verbal committed – three star recruits Stacy Kirby from Orlando and Patrick Joyner from Homestead.

The defensive end position has been one of success lately for FSU. DeMarcus Walker just took his 26.5 sacks to the NFL as a second round pick by the Denver Broncos, while the Seminoles have depth at the position with Josh Sweat and Brian Burns (who had 9.5 sacks as a freshman last season) projected to start while five star 2017 signee Joshua Kaindoh could see some early playing time after being an early enrollee.
