Miami Hurricanes fans think they will end their drought against FSU in 2017. The QB they’re basing their hopes on enrolls Monday.

It’s difficult for a true freshman quarterback to be an effective player in college football at a high level. Just take a look around, there are not many true freshmen quarterbacks starting at big-time programs.

However, there’s a high probability this will happen for the Miami Hurricanes in 2017. That quarterback is N’Kosi Perry and he’s set to enroll at Miami Monday, less than 20 weeks before Miami travels to Tallahassee to try to end their seven-year losing streak against the ‘Noles.

Here’s what Miami fans have to look forward to regarding expectations for Perry according to coach Mark Richt via the PalmBeachPost:

"“Just learn what to do,” Richt said. “Learn what do to. He’s going to be in the huddle — and we don’t huddle every play — but he’s going to be in the huddle, or in the middle of a no-huddle drill, and he’s got to know what to do. If he can do that, the players are like ‘OK, he can handle that part.’ Then when the ball’s snapped, they’ll find out what he can do after that as well.“If you don’t know enough to function well and communicate well and get us in the right situations, it’s going to be hard to compete, truly. I’ve always told our freshmen quarterbacks, ‘Your first competition is to learn what to do. When you learn enough to truly compete, then that’s the next phase.”"

Thoughts

Miami is in this predicament because Brad Kaaya decided to goto the NFL and another player decided to transfer after it was apparent he wasn’t going to be the man.

Kaaya is the best Miami quarterback in the last quarter century. Do you remember what FSU did to him last year?

Miami fans on social media chatter about how good their defense will be, but they forget they have to score points too.

A true freshman playing in his second true road game in his third career start in an atmosphere like Doak Campbell Stadium is a recipe for disaster.

That’s right, it will be his second true road game because Miami travels to Arkansas State the week prior. Yes, you read that right, they travel to Arkansas State.

The FSU defense is expected to be even better with the return of Derwin James and more experience at key positions too.

Even if Perry isn’t the starter, Miami will still be in the same predicament because they have no quarterbacks on their roster with any real game experience.

Good luck with that fellas!
