FSU Football: ACC Schedules Future Games For Noles vs. Notre Dame
By Jason Parker
FSU football now knows when five more meetings will take place with the Fighting Irish, who have an agreement to play a partial ACC schedule.
Three seasons ago, FSU football played one of the best games ever inside Doak Campbell Stadium when the Seminoles held on for a come from behind win over Notre Dame. In 2018, the Fighting Irish will get a chance at redemption when they host Florida State on November 10th in South Bend – just two weeks before the ‘Noles finish the season with Florida.
These games have been a part of an agreement between Notre Dame and the ACC where they play a partial conference schedule (usually five games) as part of their deal to remain an independent in football and join the conference in everything else. FSU football had already know two other games scheduled with the golden domers – Labor Day 2021 in Tallahassee and during the 2024 season in South Bend.
Now, we known five more times that the two teams will meet. The ACC announced on Thursday the conference teams that Notre Dame will play each year through the 2037 season – and that includes games against the Seminoles between two of the traditional programs in the sport:
"2026 – Notre Dame at Florida State2029 – Notre Dame at Florida State2030 – Florida State at Notre Dame2032 – Florida State at Notre Dame2036 – Florida State at Notre Dame"
For those scoring at home, the Fighting Irish will host five of the initial nine games between the school. While it’s hard to judge what will happen down the line, the ACC took it easy on Notre Dame – as they will not face Clemson any year they face FSU football while playing Virginia Tech (2036) and Miami (2032) just once when playing the Seminoles. ND will face Louisville three times when playing Florida State (2026, 2030 and 2032).

The two teams have met eight time before, with FSU football holding a 6-2 advantage all-time. The Seminoles won the initial meeting in 1981 before Notre Dame took their second meeting in 1993. FSU won the following two seasons, a regular season win in 1994 and an Orange Bowl victory in 1995, before the Fighting Irish won in the first game played in Tallahassee in 2002. Florida State has won the last three, including a 37-0 shut out in South Bend during the 2003 season and a Champs Sports Bowl victory in 2011.
