FSU football is getting plenty of early love for the 2017 season – including the face of ESPN’s coverage of college football, Kirk Herbstreit.

In just under four months, all the talking will be over and FSU football will take the field for a game that matters when the open the season against Alabama in maybe the first ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 game to open a season. Until then, all the Seminoles can do is sit back and here from the experts how good they are supposed to be this season (something I’m sure head coach Jimbo Fisher just loves…sarcasm noted).

One of those people showering love on the men in garnet and gold is everyone’s favorite former Ohio State quarterback turned ESPN pretty boy Kirk Herbstreit. That’s right, the man who once ripped FSU football for leaving the field after the Rose Bowl playoff semifinal game during the 2014 season (even though officials told both teams that the loser needed to leave right away, but no apology from Herbie), now loves the Seminoles to make it back to the playoff system.

The lead analyst on College GameDay and ESPN/ABC’s Saturday Night Football games was answering a question on Twitter about what teams he thought had the best shot at making it to the four team system this year:

Florida State Seminoles Football
Florida State Seminoles Football /

Florida State Seminoles Football

So, basically, Herbstreit has it down to four possible games that will decide the teams making it to the College Football Playoff this season: Penn State at Ohio State on October 28th, LSU at Alabama on November 4th, FSU football at Clemson on November 11th and a USC-Washignton game in the Pac 12 Championship should both teams make it there.

Okay, fans…pack up the season. Herbie says just four moments will matter this year. Okay, that’s not what he really said – but it’s pretty easy to do predictions when you keep it within several teams who have been in the championship conversation for much of this decade.

All I care about is not going back to the Rose Bowl. Yes, I know it’s the stadium FSU football won their third national title in, but it’s also the sight of that massacre less than one calendar year later at the hands of those darn Oregon Ducks. The last memory of something is usually the most vivid – and we all want to forget that day.
