FSU football added a huge addition to the 2018 recruiting class Thursday when five-star cornerback AJ Lytton gave his pledge to the ‘Noles.
However, Sunday the class took a hit when four-star cornerback Isaiah Bolden announced he was flipping his commitment from the ‘Noles to the Oregon Ducks.
Thoughts
It’s a move that did not catch those in the know via surprise as Bolden has been open about visiting Oregon this week. The addition of Lytton to the FSU class along with the commitment of four-star Asante Samuel Jr. a couple of weeks ago probably helped push Bolden on out.
Both players are rated higher than him as cornerbacks, and FSU is in the mix for five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr., and four-star cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis.
Bolden isn’t a bad player by any means, but there would have been real competition to see the field at FSU which isn’t the case at Oregon. However, Oregon is a long way from Florida so it’ll be interesting to see if Bolden sticks with the commitment after the initial high of his official visit wears off.
If he sticks with Oregon, that’s a good thing too. That means Clemson, Florida or Miami didn’t sign him to their roster and FSU will not have to play against him.
The ‘Noles currently have the No. 6 recruiting class nationally in the 2018 cycle with nine commitments. FSU has the No. 2 recruiting class in the ACC behind Miami with 55 percent of the commitments being blue chip players.

Overall
The Bolden loss isn’t a huge blow to the class as FSU is good depth wise at cornerback. If they can add Surtain Jr. or Armour-Davis it will be an outstanding cornerback haul.
