FSU football will be going for their fifth straight win over the hated Gators this season – and website thinks it won’t even be close yet again.

For all the years of suffering that FSU football dealt with at the hands of their hated rivals, the Florida Gators, the last seven seasons for the most part have been pretty sweet. The Seminoles have won six of their last seven games against those Crocs from Gainesville – including four in a row to tie for the ‘Noles longest win streak in the rivalry.

Florida State will look to get that record setting fifth win during the final weekend of the regular season when they travel to take on their foes. A win would give FSU football their fourth straight win on Florida’s home turf, something that has never happened before. Even more amazing is that, during the recent streak, the Seminoles have dominated each game for the most part.

All but one of Florida State’s six wins have been by double digits – with the lowest total of those being 14 points and each win being by an average of over 19 points a game (including wins of 30, 25 and 24 points in that group). That’s one of the main reasons why Bleacher Report is saying that this year’s game is one of the nine rivalry matchups in college football this season that won’t be close:

"Florida has no idea who its quarterback is going to be, hasn’t yet defined who its playmakers are going to be on offense and has lost the bulk of the defensive stars who carried the Gators to the vast majority of their wins in the first two years of the Jim McElwain era. There’s just not enough talent on Florida’s roster to keep things close this November. This game has the potential to be a three-score finale. By the end of the season, Fisher’s team will be playing for a berth in the College Football Playoff. Even though the Gators may be in the mix for a spot in the SEC Championship Game, they won’t be able to keep it close yet again against FSU."

Now, anyone who has watched the FSU football rivalry with Florida long enough knows that, even though we would love for that prediction to come true and the Seminoles get another blowout win over the Gators, anything is possible in a rivalry game with two teams that are talented and…well, hate each other with passion.

There have been plenty of games in this series where the team who came out on top had no business winning that game. The two loss Gators knocked off FSU when the ‘Noles were ranked No. 1 in 1997, while the Seminoles returned the favor the following season behind a backup quarterback in what amounted to a national semifinal game.

While FSU football still trails all time in the series by nine games (thanks to win streaks by the Gators in the early 1970’s and 1980’s when things were lean in Tallahassee), the tone of it has clearly turned in the Seminoles’ favor and may stay that way for a few more seasons.
