Big Ten Based on Geography

Staying Around (10): Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State

Newcomers (4): Iowa State, Missouri, Louisville, West Virginia

After giving up three of their newest members to closer conferences (and eventually you’ll see where the fourth one returned to), one of the oldest conferences among this group decided to be equal opportunity and take from three of the other Power Five conferences out there. It’s a move that will make for far less travel but will bite into their TV market strategy.

The realignment means the divisions will stay the same for the most part – with the exception of the Boilermakers moving to the East since both Iowa State and Missouri will now reside in the West Division. It will now stack the East side with Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Louisville and West Virginia…oy vey.
