ACC Based on Geography

Staying Around (10): Boston College, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Clemson, Pitt

Newcomers (4): Rutgers, Maryland, South Carolina, Penn State

It’s a mixed bag for this conference as they lose three of their top football teams from last season (FSU, Louisville and Miami along with Georgia Tech) while keeping all the old guard basketball programs and actually getting two original members back – as the Terrapins return from their Big Ten mistake while South Carolina gets paroled from the SEC.

From a money perspective, commissioner John Swofford loves the idea of getting the media markets of New York City, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia in his conference. Penn State and Rutgers will take over for the Seminoles and Cardinals in the Atlantic Division, while Maryland and South Carolina put down roots in the Coastal Division.
