FSU football has sent a ton of talent to the NFL in the Jimbo Fisher era. One mock draft has seven ‘Noles getting selected next month.

FSU football has at least one player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft each of the past four seasons. It looks like streak will continue in 2017 as superstar running back Dalvin Cook is expected to be a first round selection.

The ‘Noles only had two players drafted last season. Jalen Ramsey went No. 5 overall and Roberto Aguayo was a second round selection and No. 59 overall.

One mock draft has FSU football increasing the number selected in 2017. Here’s what Bleacherreport is projecting:

  • RB-Dalvin Cook, No. 19 (Tampa Bay) (1st Rd)
  • OL-Roderick Johnson, No. 74 (Philadelphia) (3rd Rd)
  • DE-DeMarcus Walker, No. 114 (Washington) (4th Rd)
  • WR-Travis Rudolph, No. 172 (Green Bay) (5th Rd)
  • DB-Marquez White, No. 189 (Los Angeles Rams) (6th Rd)
  • WR-Kermit Whitfield, No. 227 (Cincinnati) (7th Rd)
  • WR-Bobo Wilson, No. 248 (Pittsburgh) (7th Rd)

Thoughts

How crazy would it be for Dalvin Cook to reunite with Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay? I’m a bit surprised to see Travis Rudolph listed ahead of Marquez White.

Rudolph’s forty time at the NFL Combine hurt his draft stock. White didn’t run a blazing forty time either, but improved almost a full second on his second attempt.

The biggest thing White has going for him is his length at the cornerback position. I can see a team taking a flyer on Kermit Whitfield in the last round of the draft. He has excellent speed that can be used on jet sweeps and special teams.

I was surprised to see Wilson listed as a draftee. He was arguably FSU’s best receiver at times before getting injured against Wake Forest and missing the remainder of the season.

Wilson has shown the ability to make tough catches, but his forty time for a player his size wasn’t as fast as one would want at an average of 4.6.
