FSU Rivals: Former Miami QB Delusional, Says Canes in 2017 Title Hunt
By Jason Parker
Brad Kaaya, who never beat FSU in the three years he was the quarterback for Miami, really thinks the ‘Canes could have won the 2017 title if he returned.
There is no doubt that the last seven seasons have been really good for FSU football in their yearly rivalry with the Miami Hurricanes. Each season since 2010, fans and players for the Seminoles have had bragging rights over their South Florida foes – including three straight wins where FSU had to come back in the second half for the win.
The quarterback in those three games for Miami has been Brad Kaaya, who decided to turn pro after the 2016 season for some reason that no one can figure out. The California native, who was actually not a bad player on the field, did show some obvious signs of having a head injury with recent comments he made during the NFL combine.
The former Hurricanes – according to the Palm Beach Post – believes…you’re going to love this…that Miami would be the kings of college football had he come back and thinks they will be in the playoff hunt this year no matter what:
"“I thought of both scenarios…and while I think I could have won a national championship and a conference championship had I stayed at Miami, it’s always been a dream of mine to play in the Super Bowl.”“We won the first bowl game in 10 years…I think we reversed some of the, I guess, stigma that the U had. It’s been awesome. Coach Richt will have them back on the right page pretty soon. I think next season they’ll be a playoff contender, no doubt.”"

All kidding aside, it’s not as if the Hurricanes are the under . 500 and middle of the road in the ACC team they were under former coaches Randy Shannon and Al Golden. Yet still, we’re going on nearly a decade of hearing how “The U is back” without any actual evidence backing that up on the field.
Miami is a team that could win the Coastal Division this season, that’s not a question. They are also a team that, as much as we may not want to admit it as FSU football fans, is getting better and back to what the program once was. Even with that, the ‘Canes are no where close to competing with the Atlantic Divsion’s top teams – FSU, Clemson and Louisville – much less teams like Alabama, USC and Michigan for the national crown.
