Let’s take a look at how FSU and their Olympic sport teams did this past week.

While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.

Softball

After returning home from five games in California, the top ranked Lady ‘Noles got back into form with a three game sweep in their ACC opening series of the season, dropping Georgia Tech in a series that included two shutouts for Florida State. This week, FSU will host North Florida for a Wednesday double header before heading to Virginia Tech for their first road conference series of the season.

Beach Volleyball

It was a successful start to the 2017 season for the defending national runner up Lady ‘Noles. Florida State headed down to DeLand, where they defeated both LSU and host Stetson to open the season. FSU will head out to Manhattan Beach, CA this weekend for the East Meets West Invitational, taking on Long Beach State, Cal Poly, Pepperdine and UCLA over a two-day period.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

Both teams were across town this past weekend, taking part in the annual FAMU Relays to open the outdoor portion of the season. The teams will head back inside this coming weekend for the NCAA Indoor Championships before heading back outdoors come March 17th.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

The men’s team opened ACC play this past weekend, dropping a 5-2 decision against Georgia Tech on the road. The Seminoles will head south this weekend for an annual showdown with the rival Florida Gators. The women’s team split their home games this weekend, losing to Wake Forest and beating N.C. State. The Lady ‘Noles will host Illinois on Friday before heading to Tampa on Sunday to take on Penn.

Men’s and Women’s Golf

After a 10th place finish in Mexico, the men’s team took the weekend off before they take part in the Seminole Intercollegiate Tournament starting Friday in Tallahassee. The women’s team is off until March 17th, when they will head to Mesa, AZ for the Notre Dame Clover Cup.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming

The men’s team came in fifth at the ACC Championships, finishing behind champions N.C. State, Louisville, Virginia and Notre Dame. They now will prepare for the NCAA Championships starting March 22nd, while the women’s team will prepare for their run at the Championships the week before.
