5. The bench unit was still (mostly) good

The Seminoles’ bench is one of the best in the country. Though they were far from perfect today, they still scored 28 points and had a hand in keeping FSU in the game until late. Carolina’s bench only scored 16, and 12 of those came from one guy (former five-star Theo Pinson).

PJ Savoy and Jarquez smith both continued their excellent play off the pine. Savoy finished the game with 10 points and two three-pointers. Smith meanwhile had seven, on perfect 3-for-3 shooting. After having a maligned career for his first three years, he’s really starting to come through as a senior.

Florida State returns to Tallahassee and will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday night. It will be the Seminoles fourth straight game against a ranked foe. The Irish have proven they can win conference road games, having won games at Miami and at Pittsburgh already, so this will be a tough test for FSU. It will also be interesting to see how they respond after their first huge loss of the year.

Well, that’s all for now, ‘Nole fans. Keep your heads up, it’s still just the second loss of the year, and the Heels are a great team. It was bound to happen. Check back with us on Wednesday for our game preview.
